Presentation Title
Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions
The past three years have been stressful and challenging for everyone, and it's taken an emotional toll - rates of depression, anxiety, and burnout are high for adults and teens alike. Although many factors about our daily experience are out of our control, what we can control is whether we regularly engage in mental hygiene - the practice of caring for our mind and our emotions to slow or stop the progression of mental health concerns.
In this third installment of a 3-part CPA self-care series, join Dr. Aaron Weiner, clinical psychologist, for an exploration of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques for mental hygiene – how to effectively notice and alter “thought loops,” notice and adjust harmful thought patterns, and how to use our thoughts to improve our well-being rather than keep us feeling stuck.
Objectives:
Attendees will be able to…
- Define emotional first aid, and how it can help with daily emotional experiences.
- Describe how thoughts and feelings are directly related to each other.
- Identify at least 4 types of harmful thinking styles and how to adjust them.
