When a person has contributed much to her chosen field, she should be recognized and honored. Margaret “Maggie” Marcopul was such a person and upon her death in 2009 CPA Board members decided a thoughtful way to do this would be to establish an award to be given to others, who brought energy and creativity to the prevention field.
The worthy recipients would have to exemplify the qualities that made Maggie the person she was. She was passionate, committed, an extraordinary leader and trainer, and always a consummate professional.
Among her contributions to the field of drug and alcohol were assisting in developing: the first coalition training, “Community Visions”, the Certified Prevention Specialist credentialing process, and Prevention Ethics Training.
She was full of energy, had an infectious laugh, and was an outstanding role model for others. Her legacy lives on in the dedicated prevention professionals that comprise CPA today.
